Ride Live · Beta

A coach in the room for every interval.

Rep four is dying. Most apps leave you two choices: grind it out or bail and feel like you failed. Ride Live makes the call a coach would make from beside the trainer: when to stop the set, when to add one, and why.

  • Your plan’s workout, in ERG
  • Every rep graded
  • Easier on its own, with Undo

Beta. Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop, with a Bluetooth smart trainer.

A simulated rider on six VO2max reps, sped up. Watch reps four and five.

How it decides

It eases you down on its own. It never pushes you up without asking.

  • Easier happens on its own.

Miss a rep and the rest of the set eases before the next one starts. You never grind a target that already beat you. Undo is one tap.

  • Harder waits for you.

Every rep held with room to spare? The coach offers one more rep or a few more watts. Nothing goes up until you tap it.

  • Every call shows its numbers.

“Rep 5 is 20% under rep 3, two reps running.” Not a beep or a color. The reason, in plain words, while you can still act on it.

The cues

It says the hard thing at the right second.

  • “Stop the set”

Two reps in a row fall well short of the set’s benchmark rep. The coach calls it, because more reps now cost more than they give.

  • “Rest of set eased”

A rep came in under target, so the reps still to come drop by the shortfall. Undo puts them back.

  • “One more rep?”

Your last rep held your benchmark. The coach offers one more at the same target, and you choose.

  • “You have more”

A rep came in well over target. The coach offers a higher target for the rest of the set.

  • “Spin up”

Cadence sags before the trainer bogs you down. The cue comes while you can still fix it.

  • “Fan on. Drink.”

Heart rate runs high for these watts compared with your own usual numbers. Heat or a bug shows up like this.

One ride

Your plan’s workout, on your trainer, with the coach watching.

  1. 01 · Before

Open today’s workout from your plan in Chrome or Edge. Pair your trainer and heart-rate strap over Bluetooth. Nothing to install.

  2. 02 · During

The trainer holds each target in ERG. You see power against the target band, cadence, heart rate and W′, the reserve you burn above threshold. One cue at a time, each with its reason.

  3. 03 · After

Every rep has a grade, and your summary marks a set the coach ended as coach-ended, not failed. The ride lands in your training history, and Wahoo riders can send it to their Wahoo account.

Questions

Ride Live FAQ

Which trainers work with Ride Live?

Smart trainers that speak the Bluetooth FTMS standard, which covers most current models: Wahoo KICKR and KICKR CORE, Zwift Hub, Tacx Flux, Elite and Saris among them. Some older trainers only speak ANT+ FE-C or a private protocol, and those do not show up. Any Bluetooth heart-rate strap pairs too.

What do I need to run it?

Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop. Safari and iPhone or iPad browsers do not allow web pages to talk to Bluetooth devices yet, so Ride Live cannot run there.

When does the coach change my targets?

When you are struggling, it acts first. A rep that comes in under target eases the rest of the set, and telling it a set felt harder eases the next set 3%. Each change shows its reason and an Undo button. When you have room to spare, it only offers: one more rep or a higher target waits for your tap.

Is a set the coach ends a failed workout?

No. Your ride summary marks a set ended on the coach’s call as coach-ended. Stopping when the reps stop paying is the right call, and the coach makes it with you.

Can I use it alongside Zwift or ROUVY?

Not yet. Today Ride Live holds the trainer itself, so it replaces the workout app for that ride. A mode that coaches alongside Zwift or ROUVY is planned.

Is Ride Live available to everyone?

Ride Live is in beta and open to every Coach rider. It also comes with the 14-day trial every signup gets; it is not part of the free tier.
